One time back in the winter, I got locked in my shed. I had forgotten my key to my house, and it was cold. Naturally, my mind wandered to going into the shed for a place to be until my dad came home so I could go in.
Luckily, the shed was unlocked. I went in and tried to stay warm by huddling beside the lawnmower. I had my music and a jacket, so I would be okay for a while. At least, that what I thought.
After around twenty minutes, I started to feel cold. I got up to check out if anyone was home. Of course, nobody had come home yet. I checked the time, it was around 2:50. My brother didn't come home for another hour, and my dad was supposed to be off work in two hours. I was kind of screwed.
I then tried to open the door to get out. It's a simple latch, so I assumed it wouldn't be too hard to open.
Wrong.
The door was stuck. It wouldn't budge. I kept calmly trying to open it, but to no prevail. Out of the small window, I saw the boy who lives across the street from me walking home. I started banging against the door and slamming my body weight into the door, trying to open it. Maybe he would hear me; hopefully he wouldn't. I would have been very embarrassed.
So there I was, locked in this shed, freezing. My mind started thinking, "oh god, I'm going to die in here. I'll starve to death. Goodbye, Erika."
I went into a full panic after only half an hour in my shed. Yes, only half an hour.
After a few more minutes of thinking I would die in this shed, my stepmom came home and heard me banging against the door. She opened it for me, and I fell into the snow below the shed.
The moral of this story could be don't forget your key. It could also be don't go into the shed when you're locked out. Either one could work for whatever situation you're in.
